My oil filter removal tool managed to accidently touch something under there and make it spark..

yea i found that one the first time i tried to take off the filter, scared the crap out of me!
I now use a open ended filter wrench, saves having to reset everything on the stereo if you disconnect the battery

Ahh ok, thanks man.

Lol, good to see I'm not the only one. I bought some cheap filter remover tool from Auto 1, but it's a bit of a shit design to say the least.

I done it a while back with my maxima engine,i had someone screw on the oil filter while the engine was out of the car and when the engine was in the car,impossible to get off with my shitty oil filter tool..
