|
|
My zed is registered as a coupe, when clearly its a hatchback.
Coupe means it has a fixed rear window. Stupid DPI.
And has anyone else had any trouble with passengers not knowing how to lift the hatch up? Nobody i know can do it first go, and my mum still can't do it.
What about you?

Lol, when I first got it I tried lifting it from the wrong spot. only once tho.
Watching other people try it makes me lol. Moreso if they fail more than once. _________________ - My Zed - My Space - For Sale -

Do the passengers try and lift it from the plastic 300ZX center garnish thing? I'm used to 240z's and the z31 is the same, you stick your hand under the metal lip of the hatch, not the part underneath which has the rego light in it.
Hatchback to me implies a grocery getter. The Z31 is a sports coupe, be proud of it. If someone calls it a hatchback, correct them
There are various definitions of a coupe.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coupe
| Quote: | | Modern coupés generally have the styling feature of frameless doors, with the window glass sealing directly against a weather-strip on the main body |
I guess that covers the fixed rear window part, but there are differing definitions of coupe. Such as A coupe is supposed to be defined as the absence of a B pillar.
Going by that definition it makes the Z31 technically a 2 door sedan, with a hatch.
Call it whatever makes you happy. Either would be correct, but coupe sounds better. And liftback sounds better to me than hatchback.
The various terms can all overlap to some degree. Is a fastback also a coupe, whats the difference between a liftback and a hatchback?
If you want to get even more confused read the definitions of each on wikipedia.
The definitions I go by are if its got 2 doors (ie what you get in and out of) its a coupe, regardless of whether its got a hatchback or a fixed rear window.
If its got 4 doors and a fixed rear window its a sedan.
If its got a 4 doors and a hatchback, its a hatchback.
Things would be alot simpler if the rest of the world agreed with me
The licencing dept aren't the brightest mob. I have an S30 240z coupe and the rego papers say its a 530 240Z Sedan. _________________ Yeah I got 31's. Both kinds. Z and R 31s |
