You could try searching on

www.z31performance.com/forum or http://forums.hybridz.org/

I've never heard of it being done. rb20's yeah, sr20 into older Z's but never heard of anyone putting a ca18 into one.

Be warned though, if you ask that question on either of those forums, you probably get the odd smartarse flaming you for asking it.

I'm guessing because she has access to one free or cheap, and waiting to find a VG30 could be a problem.

Though trying to fit a ca18 may cause alot more problems, like possibly having to modify the cross member to fit it. custom engine mounts, Finding a suitable gearbox. wiring it all up. etc.

Simplest soution is to find another VG30E, or rebuild the one you have.

Though rebuilding it would probably be very expensive.

hit the nail on the head .... someone owes money and offered me motor

just gettin a bit despereate .... i have no money at the mo and no transport at all been walkin or dependin on friends and taxi
... not easy when youhave as many kids as me

it prob is not worth the hassle thought about it last night and it would be easier and cheaper just to get a z31 motor
just gotta wait for one to come up that i can afford

Custom mounts, will need to wire it up (if you've got loom from engine to ecu it wouldn't be that hard, just swap looms over and make less adjustments) Custom driveshaft, going thru the pits, it all adds up.

Depends whether you can get the above or a VG30 cheaper, but CA18DET in a z31 is:
a) sacreligious
b) never been done before, afaik.

i say do it, free engine (well, sorta free) and reason b) above, plus theres a fair amount of aftermarket development on the CA18, thanks to silvias.

yeah. remember that the vg30e isnt that rare an engine, unless you specifically look for the z31 version. i believe others work if you use a z31 sump. not 100% certain tho, try talking to tim on this forum about his engine as i believe its from a maxima.

alternatively, you could take the ca18det, sell it to a pintara driver or something, and use that money to get a vg30e + have some change.
