Hey,

Just wondering if anyone has done it and/or can explain the process to me, as I'm thinking about buying an unlicenced car from another state.

For those that aren't aware, I'm in WA.

Cheers,
Sean.

if it's unregistered it would make it a bit easier but you will still have to pay for transport. As long as you get a invoice for the car getting it registered in your name shouldn't cause any problems. Also if you can't go and look at the car they may be able to hide problems that are wrong with it.

Well, when I did it. I sent the guy the money for the car via bank transfer.

Then phoned up TNT logistics to arrange door to door service, paid via visa card,  they picked the car up at the sellers house in Adelaide, and dropped it off at my place 3 weeks later. (there was a 3 week backlog of cars coming to Perth so it had to wait).

Cost about $900 for transport.

$900 hey? Hrmm, don't know if I can justify any more than $750 for freight, thanks for the info though.

Was the car you bought rego'd over there? What was involved in getting it rego'd over here?

The one I was looking at is now sold, however there is another car popped up on the east coast that looks good. This one is rego'd though, so I would probably fly there and drive it back if I got it, after getting a few quotes about the last one.

Alternatively, I could look at the one good z31 that's for sale locally, but compared to what I could get for my money in other states, it's a hard one.

Nah rego had run out. Doesnt matter though, all cars will need to be reinspected to get on WA rego.

I havent regoed the car. It's one of my future project cars.

Yeah, I heard that if it got a yellow in another state it can't be rego'd here till it's cleared. Don't know if that's true though, or if it's the same if it's just unregoed.

Either way, I don't think I'll be doing that now, but I guess the info is good to know.. and to have on the forums for reference sake.
